Etelage (French for adornment) est. 2002
offers a bespoke jewellery range, an extraordinary range of beads & extensive education program. Two DVDs later & a business nomination for business innovation (Telstra Awards 2009) Christine Smalley, owner and creative director continues to persue excellence in her passion for all things adorned.
bespoke jewellery is designed and made in the Sydney studio using a mix of vintage & contemporary beads to create quirky, eclectic & unique designs. From statement wow necklaces to chandelier earrings, ethnic inspired jewellery to deco. There is something for everyone.
beautiful beads from community fair trade & eco to vintage & collectables. All are personally sourced globally from Europe, Oceania, South America and Africa, offering a diverse, unique, quality & fashion - driven range.
creative jewellery workshops are held Tues nights & weekends for all skill levels by 6 talented tutors. funky DIY kits Short on time or creativity? Choose from over 200 kits. Australian Beading Vol 4#3 features our Egyptian inspired multi strand necklace using Czech glass, semi precious & a feature filigree spacer bar. Choose from lapis blue or turquoise.
vintage store upstairs “Olga and Millies” is named after Christine’s great grandmother & offers European and locally sourced jewellery, hand bags and frocks from the 1920s to 1980s. Wearing bespoke vintage clothing and unique accessories is fun, individual & sustainable.
vision Is to share our passion for adornment by offering you an appreciation for beautiful aesthetics that have meaning & value in culture & a story with each innovative piece. where are we located? Newtown is a vibrant, creative & diverse shopping, dining & entertainment precinct. It is a fabulous destination for craft DIYers offering not only our bead store but a knitting cafe, paper shop, haberdashery supplies, art stocks & resin workshops. It is 3 rail stops from Sydney CBD and 10 minutes from the airport.
(The Etelage bead & jewellery store is a short walk, left from Newtown railway station, next door to Caramba South America Gallery & opp All Buttons Great and Small).
We are open 7 days till 5pm except Thurs 7pm and Sundays 4pm.
